Alice was developed by Carnegie Mellon University and introduces beginning programmers to the world of 3-D animation. The name of the software program was inspired by Lewis Carroll himself—the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The developers of Alice wanted to follow in the footsteps of this great mathematician, novelist, and photographer who sought to communicate intellectually challenging ideas in a clear and entertaining way.
Alice is currently used in more than 100 high schools and universities to teach beginning programming principles using drag-and-drop 3-D characters you place on-screen and use to tell a story. Your students will learn the fundamentals of computer programming without even thinking about it, and you'll be amazed at their results. (www.alice.org)
